Happy New year!

Happy New year and many thanks for returning to join me during 2023. I started the year by diving into someone else's diary other than my own, 'Bridget Jones' Diary' by Helen Fielding*. I still have my original paperback copy purchased and first read in 1996 - where has the time gone? I remember being enthralled by the honesty of Fielding's writing, her observations and tiny details of behaviour which myself and other females were doing and the social ideas/rules we were living by. I did wonder if a reread would ruin my memories and enjoyment of the book. Thankfully, it didn't. If anything, I felt an air of nostalgia reflecting on those days when I too was mid-twenties. In 1996, it felt like a book of its time, though I hate to admit it, many things haven't changed. As back then, I gave it a glowing five star review before replacing it on my shelf to patiently await my next reread of Ms Jones.  

*For those wondering why I'd reread a book when the film is available - the original diary differs in its story line to the film version.
