One of my favourite tasks

One of my favourite tasks as an author is sending out signed books ahead of publication day! With each publication, I have chosen a handful of people to receive a signed copy. And those people are ... the ones that have diligently supported me and my writing since the last publication date.

I have never meet these readers, bloggers or reviewers in my life and yet when I post on social media they never fail me. They repeatedly retweet, promote, mention and blog about my books without anyone asking, no encouragement from publishers, editors or me. They're simply bookworms who live and breathe books ... and for that I am grateful.

And I notice. I make a note and recognise their names time and time again. And then a little while before publication I surprise them with a brief message asking for a contact address and thanking them for their efforts. I'm sure half think its a stunt or a joke - until their signed book arrives! I don't pull pranks. I never make fake promises. And I always notice who supports me. Always.
